I’m A Little Teapot

I'm A Little Teapot
Written for a dance class

Play I’m A Little Teapot on our online piano.

It’s an American song, originally used in a dance studio, about pouring a teapot or whistling tea kettle.

The tune was  written by George Sanders and Clarence Kelley and published in 1939.

Kelley and his wife operated a dance school for children, which taught the Waltz Clog, a popular and easy-to-learn tap dance routine. This dance was too hard for the younger students to master. To help his child students, George Sanders wrote The Teapot Song for a dance. The dance, the Teapot Tip, became popular both in America and around the world.

I’m a little teapot
Short and stout
Here is my handle
Here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
I just shout
Tip me over & pour me out
