If you live in Westchester County or Putnam County, New York, you can take private lessons with John Aschenbrenner, the author of the PIANO BY NUMBER series.
The emphasis is on your child enjoying playing the piano at first, rather than jumping into reading music and having it be the only thing upon which lessons are centered. Your child will learn to play fun, familiar songs first before they are inundated with the minutiae of sheet music.
Private lessons are held in your home, with the teacher assuming the cost of travel. You will find it much more convenient to have a teacher come to you.
In general, lessons are for a half hour. This may seem like a short time, but most people find it enough to continue their interest.
Children of course, like the shorter, half-hour lessons. But you may arrange any length of session you wish, perhaps according to the age and interest of the student.
John Aschenbrenner's academic background includes degrees from the the University California at Berkeley, the University of Southern California and Trinity College of Music, London.
John is an experienced and distinguished composer and conductor, having appeared on Broadway, in films and television, and is the winner of an Emmy Award for composition.
